Nigerian Radio Presenter, Iya Jogbo dies of heart complication

TVC Communications, owners of TVC, TVC News and Max FM, mourned the loss of its well-known host of popular show on Max FM Lagos ‘Wetin Dey’

The grievous news struck the country and rallies the hearts of many Nigerians who have since been paying tributes to the Radio personality.

Emmanuella Pobeni Adepoju professionally known as Iya Jogbo died on Friday after a brief illness from bronchitis and an enlarged heart TVC Communication announced.

As a Co-host of the famous and award winning Wetin Dey show on Max 102.3FM, Lagos. She is known on the program as “Iya Jogbo”, an ederly and comic character who addresses and criticize societal issues alongside Wale Animashaun aka WalePowPowPow and Obus Bezalee known as Obus.

In an official statement, TVC Communications CEO, Andrew Hanlon said the sudden demise of Iya Jogbo left a huge scar of agony in the hearts of its staff and management which will be hard to recover from.

Hanlon said that “the terribly sad news of Emmanuella’s passing today has sent a shock wave of grief and sorrow throughout the TVC Communications, and MAX FM family.

“Whilst we struggle to come to terms with her untimely passing, our hearts and minds are focussed solely on. Her beloved children and her immediate and extended family and friends.

“Emmanuella’ presence will be with us forever as she leaves a legacy of enormous talent and spirit from the almost 10 years she spent with the company.

“As a key member of the much loved Wetin Dey radio show on Max FM. She will be deeply missed by us all and by her many thousands of fans who tuned in to hear her unique broadcasts every day. May she Rest In Peace.”

Iya Jogbo’s 10 years service at TVC Communication is accompanied by her work experience in other giant media houses, notably Radio Lagos and she is said to have started her career as a presenter as far back as 1995.
