The president of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), Ademola Are, said the federation would continue to work to enhance the development of the sport at the grassroots in the country.
The event was a part of the Nigeria 30×30 fitness challenge and IFBB NCD Award which is expected to run from Oct. 1 to Oct. 30.
Are said the just concluded World Rugby technical and medical training course was part of a development programme in Nigeria.
According to Are, the purpose of the training was to support participants with necessary equipment to develop rugby at the grassroots level.
“We have everything we need to make rugby the number one sport in Nigeria, but this can only be achieved by the support of all participants. The programme is essential because it allow us to take the message of rugby to our communities”. They must introduce the game to our people, and pass on the knowledge they have acquired to our youth,”he said .
The president urged all the stakeholders to impact their different zones with the knowledge they have acquired during the training.
“The critical role of stakeholders is to ensure that they continued with the growth of rugby in their various zones by organising competitions. We can’t do this alone, we need your full collaboration and support to sustain and expand the reach of rugby in Nigeria,” he said.
The president said with the knowledge acquired during the training, participants can now serve as instructors and educators.
“World Rugby may not need to send facilitators as often because many of them are now equipped to train others at various levels.
” World Rugby will only need to supervise our progress, not guide us step by step,” he said
