Accion MfB boosts financial inclusion with Kano expansion

Accion Microfinance Bank Limited, a pioneer in providing financial services to underserved communities and small businesses in Nigeria, has successfully opened a new branch on Hadejia Road, Kano State.

This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone in the bank’s mission to drive financial inclusion across Northern Nigeria’s key commercial hubs.
The branch opening was launched with an innovative, three-phase strategy that combined grassroots community engagement, high-level stakeholder networking, and strategic media amplification. The campaign yielded exceptional results, generating over 350 customer leads and forging strong partnerships with influential market leaders across Kano State.
The launch commenced with a dynamic two-day “market storm” across Kano’s major commercial centers, including Farm Centre Market and Yankaba Market, one of Northern Nigeria’s largest produce markets”.

“This grassroots engagement strategy involved direct interaction with thousands of traders and market visitors, resulting in over 350 qualified customer leads for immediate follow-up and account conversion as well as strategic partnerships with influential market leaders, including Aminu Lawal Ibrahim, Chairman of Yankaba Market, and Jamilu Bala Gama, Chairman of Farm Centre Market.

It has also led to enhanced brand visibility through branded materials and on-ground demonstrations of Accion’s mobile banking solutions.

The market engagement was met with overwhelmingly positive reception from traders and small business owners, with market leaders expressing strong interest in long-term partnerships for financial literacy programs.

The formal branch opening ceremony at the Hadejia Road location brought together a distinguished assembly of dignitaries, community leaders, and business executives, including Hajiya Habiba Muhammad Maisahanu of the Kano Chamber of Commerce (KACCIMA) and Dr. Uche Godwin, MD/CEO of NITA Foam Chemical Company, among others. The event featured comprehensive facility tours, executive addresses, and extensive networking, fostering valuable business relationships.
To maximize awareness, Accion’s Managing Director, Taiwo Joda, participated in live radio interviews on Cool FM Kano and Wazobia FM Kano during prime listening hours. This media engagement effectively communicated the bank’s value proposition to a wide audience and reinforced brand credibility.
The successful Kano branch launch aligns with Accion Microfinance Bank’s strategic objective of expanding access to financial services for Nigeria’s underserved populations. The bank’s approach, combining traditional banking services with innovative mobile solutions and community-centered engagement, positions it as a catalyst for economic empowerment in Northern Nigeria.

“Our presence in Kano represents a long-term investment in the economic prosperity of this vibrant commercial region,” emphasized the Managing Director. “We are not just opening a branch but establishing a foundation for sustainable financial inclusion that will benefit traders, small businesses, and individuals all over Kano State.”
